Tamshell’s standard offering of polymeric seal materials include polymers formulated to provide low friction, high strength, chemical resistance, FDA compliance, good wear resistance or combinations of these characteristics. Some of Tamshell’s most popular seal materials are:
PolyShell-01: Virgin PTFE is recommended for static and light duty dynamic applications. It is FDA approved but offers limited wear characteristics.
Polyshell-03: Graphite filled PTFE has superior wear and heat resistance. It is non abrasive and has a low coefficient of friction and can be used in dry environments.
PolyShell-05: Carbon-graphite filled PTFE has a higher extrusion resistance than PolyShell-03 with good wear and seal life.
PolyShell-07: Glass-Moly filled PTFE is very tough and long wearing. Is abrasive but can be used in high pressure applications.
PolyShell-08: UHMW Blend is an excellent cryogenic seal material. It is tough and durable but with limited heat and chemical resistance.
PolyShell-09: Polymer filled PTFE has excellent wear characteristics. It is non-abrasive and recommended for moderate to high speed applications.
PolyShell-10: Polymer filled PTFE has excellent heat and wear characteristics for high speed applications.
PolyShell-19: Proprietary UHMW blend that provides excellent resistance to wear and abrasives. It is most effective in aqueous media but also provides service in dry applications. Limited max service temperature.
PolyShell-20: Proprietary UHMW blend that sets the standard for engineered polymers with a unique combination of wear and chemical resistance, low friction surface and impact strength. Limited max temperature.
PolyShell-22: Offers the highest heat resistance and mechanical property retention over 400 deg F of any unfilled polymer. It has better wear resistance and load carrying capabilities at extreme temperatures than any other engineering plastic.
PolyShell-23: Bronze filled PTFE. It combines low friction, heat and chemical resistance with improved creep strength, thermal conductivity and wear resistance.
PolyShell-26: Provides maximum physical strength, elongation and toughness, as well as outstanding thermal and electrical properties.
PolyShell-27: Primarily used for wear and friction parts. It offers a very low expansion rate, low coefficient of friction and exhibits little to no slip-stick in use. It excels in severe service wear applications such as non lubricated bearings, seals, bearing cages and reciprocating compressor parts.
PolyShell-28: Glass cloth with epoxy resin. It offers high dielectric strength, radiation, chemical and thermal shock resistance and high tensile and flexural strength.
PolyShell-32: An internally lubricated, carbon fiber reinforced polymer blend offering low coefficient of thermal expansion and outstanding chemical and wear resistance.
PolyShell-33: Proprietary PTFE blend with oxide fillers for improved wear resistance. It performs well in dry or lubricated environments. It is chemically inert with good dielectric properties and a wide temperature range.
PolyShell-34: A high glass filled PTFE for increased temperature and wear resistance. It is abrasive when running against soft metals.
PolyShell-35: A proprietary UHMW blend that provides excellent resistance to wear and abrasives. It offers higher temperature resistance than PolyShell-08, -19 or -20 materials. It is most effective in aqueous media but provides service in dry running applications. FDA/USDA compliant.
PolyShell-38: Mineral filled PTFE with unmatched dimensional stability, and excellent creep resistance. FDA compliant.
PolyShell-43: Good impact resistance, dimensional stability and outstanding surface hardness. It is resistant to a wide range of solvents and exhibits negligible water absorption.
